Senior Custodian, Day

As a Senior Day Custodian, you will work independently under limited supervision, providing custodial and specialized cleaning support to cover vacancies and supplement work crews anywhere on campus. You will respond to customer needs and requests, often relying on personal judgment and application of previous experience and knowledge of established practices and procedures. You will also respond to campus crises situations to enhance public safety and minimize infrastructure damage.

What You Will Do

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include working in restricted access areas, responding to emergency calls, and assisting with snow and ice removal. You may work in areas that require highly specialized procedures, training, or certification. You will work Monday-Friday, 5:00am to 1:30pm.

Why It Might Be a Fit

We are looking for candidates with 18 months of custodial experience and 3 years of total work experience. You should have completed the Building Services Custodial Development Program or be enrolled in the program within 90 days of hire. You should also have the ability to supervise and train small groups, read, write, and speak English, and communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematics
• Good work organization ability
• Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding building maintenance and security
• Working knowledge of power and non-powered floor care equipment
• Ability to lift and carry 25-50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally required
• Valid US or Canadian driver's license
