Senior Custodian, Night

As a Senior Night Custodian, you will work independently under limited supervision, providing custodial and specialized cleaning support to cover vacancies and supplement work crews anywhere on campus. You will respond to customer needs and requests, often relying on personal judgment and application of previous experience and knowledge of established practices and procedures. You may work in restricted access areas that require highly specialized procedures, training, or certification.

What You Will Do

Your main day-to-day responsibilities will include working independently, responding to customer needs, and assisting with snow and ice removal. You may also work in restricted access areas and respond to campus crises situations to enhance public safety and minimize infrastructure damage.

Why It Might Be a Fit

To be a fit for this role, you should have 18 months of custodial experience, with 3 years of total work experience. You should also be able to supervise and train small groups, read, write, and speak English, and communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.

Requirements

• 18 months of custodial experience
• 3 years of total work experience
• Completed Building Services Custodial Development Program, or enrolled in program within 90 days of hire
• Ability to supervise and train small groups
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor, co-workers, and customers
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematics
• Ability to communicate via a computer
• Good work organization ability
• Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding building maintenance and security
• Working knowledge of power and non-powered floor care equipment
• Ability to lift and carry 25-50 lbs. frequently, and up to 60 lbs. occasionally
• Ability to work efficiently and professionally in a fast-paced and diverse team setting
• Valid US or Canadian driver's license
