Role Overview

The Senior Field Service Engineer will deploy, install, and maintain servers, routers, switches, telecommunications/SATCOM systems, UPS systems, and desktop PC hardware in support of customer IT infrastructure and enterprise operations. Up to 50% travel is required for this position. The Field Service Engineer will work in Northern Virginia (Fairfax) and may be required to travel to conflict/war zones.

What You Will Do

The Field Engineer will be responsible for applying the Sponsor's project management model, providing build, testing, analysis, deployment, and troubleshooting/lifecycle support for innovative hardware/software/network systems and applications. They will also support the procurement of required equipment, uncrate, set up, and build out new equipment, and conduct site surveys as needed prior to installation.

They will also have a general knowledge and experience regarding satellite constellations, experience and knowledge of satellite modems, and experience with fiber-optic transceivers and L-band inter-facility link terminals.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly
  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience
  • Ability to lift, maneuver, and assemble satellite equipment of various weights and sizes
  • Understanding of satellite signal flow and networking
  • Willingness to travel at least 50%
  • General knowledge and experience regarding satellite constellations
  • Experience and knowledge of satellite modems
  • Experience with fiber-optic transceivers and L-band inter-facility link terminals
  • Familiarity with test and inspection equipment and troubleshooting techniques for satellite systems
  • General knowledge of basic TCP/IP theory
  • Experience installing and terminating fiber optics and Ethernet cables
  • Ability to install conduit, ladder racks, demarcation boxes, power runs, breaker panels, breakers, and any other infrastructure needs to support an installation or O&M project
