Role Overview

We are seeking an innovative Senior Human Resources Generalist to join our Enterprise (Central) HR Team within the State Human Resources Division. This position supports the State of Montana's human resources centralization initiative. The Senior Human Resources Generalist will lead development and deployment of forward-looking, strategic, enterprise-wide solutions associated with talent management, performance and development, classification and compensation, recruitment and selection, and labor relations and collective bargaining support.

What You Will Do

The Senior Human Resources Generalist will build and maintain effective working partnerships with the state human resources community; provide guidance on state and federal policies and regulations; lead policy changes and program initiatives based on emerging trends and changes in law; lead responses to formal claims and recommend strategies for reducing claims; and work closely with human resources information systems staff to develop and support system initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, public administration, or another related field.
  • Five or more years of progressively responsible experience in a human resources role, including a least two years of experience in a senior human resources role.
  • Experience developing and administering both tactical and strategic HR programs within a larger organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles, procedures, and best practices for talent recruitment and selection, training, compensation and benefits, labor law, and HR information systems.
