Role OverviewThe Senior Juvenile Probation Officer will work with youth, families, and communities to provide case management, referrals, and assessments. They will conduct home and school visits, initiate contact with victims and law enforcement, and use Motivational Interviewing to engage youth and families. The officer will also conduct risk and needs assessments, develop case plans, and provide supervision and treatment recommendations to the State Attorney and other judicial partners.
What You Will Do
The Senior Juvenile Probation Officer will conduct face-to-face contacts with youth and families, maintain communication with schools and law enforcement, and provide referrals for services. They will also assist youth with obtaining mental health and substance abuse evaluations, arrange for specialized testing and treatment, and follow up with service providers. The officer will also assist with school and after-school enrollment, maintain school contact, and verify school attendance and academic performance.

The ideal candidate will have four years of experience working directly with adolescents in the fields of criminal justice or social services. They will also have a valid driver's license and be certified in accordance with State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice direct care training policy. The candidate will be able to provide counseling and guidance to others, conduct and document fact-finding interviews, and make recommendations concerning the processing, handling, and disposition of delinquent youth.
Requirements
- Four years of experience working directly with adolescents in one or more of the following fields: criminal justice (e.g., law enforcement, courts, correction/rehabilitation facilities, or probation/parole), social services (e.g., child protective services, crisis intervention, foster care/group homes, adoption, or mental health/substance abuse treatment)
- A valid driver's license
- Certification in accordance with State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice direct care training policy
