Role OverviewMercor is seeking a Senior Counsel — Legal Domain Expert to evaluate the quality of legal knowledge work tasks and AI model outputs. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school, 8-15 years of substantive post-qualification legal practice, and specialization in a substantive practice area.
What You Will Do
Develop high-quality instruction specs and golden solutions to legal problems, design challenging legal tasks and evaluation sets, and collaborate with the research team to build legal-specific skills and tools.

Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- 8 to 15 years of substantive post-qualification legal practice
- Current or past counsel, senior associate, senior in-house counsel, or Assistant General Counsel level
- Specialization in a substantive practice area like corporate, litigation, regulatory, intellectual property, employment, or tax
- Admission to at least one U.S. state bar, in good standing
- Hands-on experience with large language models in professional work
- Ability to commit to 40 hours per week for 6 months
- Reside in the Bay Area, California
