Role OverviewThis role focuses on researching, planning, and designing mechanical and electromechanical products and systems for ASI's robotic unmanned vehicles. The role involves designing, developing, and testing mechanical components, equipment, and machinery, and applying engineering principles to create products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines.
What You Will Do
Research and analyse customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application. Design robotic control systems using electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic principles. Participate in fabrication and installation to ensure compliance with design and customer specifications.

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (master’s preferred). 5–7 years of mechanical engineering experience. Proficiency in CAD/SolidWorks design tools. Experience documenting design reviews and requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (master’s preferred)
- 5–7 years of mechanical engineering experience
- 5–7 years of product and machine design experience using SolidWorks, Pro-E, or Catia
- Proficiency in CAD/SolidWorks design tools
- Experience documenting design reviews and requirements
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
- Ability to perform hand calculations of stresses
- Experience with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
- Proficiency with math tools such as MATLAB or Mathcad
- Familiarity with Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Understanding of manufacturing processes
- Familiarity with patent law
- Basic understanding of software development
- Experience with systems involving heavy equipment, hydraulics, gearing, and motors
