Role OverviewThe Network Engineer will perform complex technical work in designing, implementing, and supporting secure Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN) for the Department of Social Services (DSS). The role requires ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise network infrastructure supporting DSS, HRA, and DHS operations. The Network Engineer will manage and maintain over 150 firewalls and 1,000+ switches by configuring, monitoring, and optimizing technologies to ensure network performance, reliability, and security across the production environment.
What You Will Do
The Network Engineer will diagnose and resolve network, remote access, and security issues by analyzing logs, firewall policies, and system alerts to maintain 24/7 network availability. They will design and implement network infrastructure and security controls by developing configurations and architectures that enhance system performance, resiliency, and compliance with agency standards.

Requirements
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science, engineering, or a related field
- Four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to datacenter engineering and operations, cloud engineering and operations, complex IT infrastructure engineering
- Ability to diagnose and resolve network, remote access, and security issues
- Experience in designing and implementing routing protocols
- Experience in evaluating data from routers, switches, and firewalls
