Role OverviewThe Senior Paralegal will work under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or a Project Supervisor, supporting the Department of Justice's mission. The role involves litigation support, preparing for trial, and working with high-profile cases. The Senior Paralegal will be responsible for compiling, preparing, and summarizing relevant materials for attorneys, performing moderately complex legal research, and reviewing case-related materials.
What You Will Do
The Senior Paralegal will compile, prepare, and summarize relevant materials for use by attorneys, perform moderately complex legal research, review case-related materials, and assist attorneys in the courtroom. They will also provide support to the Victim Witness Unit of the U.S. Attorney's Office, respond to victim inquiries, and assist with victim travel arrangements and resource coordination.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of litigation paralegal experience, trial experience, and experience in automated litigation support. They will have a sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. The candidate will also have excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools.
Requirements
- paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study or an equivalent level of legal training or experience
- at least two years of litigation paralegal experience
- trial experience
- at least one year of experience in automated litigation support
- sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources
- excellent written and oral communication skills
- thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
- hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems
- ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources
- DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US Citizenship required)
