Role Overview

Support the Department of Justice's mission at the Office of Pardon Attorneys Office as a Senior Paralegal. Work under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or a Project Supervisor, preparing and summarizing materials for attorneys, performing complex legal research, and reviewing case-related materials.

What You Will Do

Compile and prepare materials for use by attorneys, summarize depositions and transcripts, maintain case files, perform moderately complex legal research, and assist attorneys in courtroom.

Why It Might Be a Fit

Ideal candidate has at least 2 years of litigation paralegal experience, including 1 year of experience in automated litigation support, and a paralegal certificate, JD, or equivalent level of legal training or experience.

Requirements

  • Paralegal certificate, JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one year of study, or an equivalent level of legal training or experience
  • At least 2 years of litigation paralegal experience, including 1 year of experience in automated litigation support
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw
  • Hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases, spreadsheets, imaging, and hardware systems
  • Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources
  • Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure
  • Advanced skills with Excel
  • Professional, can-do, customer-service attitude
  • DOJ MBI must be obtainable (US citizenship required)
