Role OverviewAs a Senior PostgreSQL Database Developer, you will own the database layer of a federal agency's enterprise data platform, shaping its structure and performance across Amazon Aurora, DynamoDB, and Apache Iceberg tables on S3. You will design and tune the physical model, query and plan tuning, and data models to ensure the platform's reliability and scalability. This is a hybrid role based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, requiring regular commuting into DC.
What You Will Do
Your primary responsibilities will include designing and tuning a database layer that performs at scale, physical design, query and plan tuning, and data modeling. You will also be responsible for implementing schema migrations, S3 load patterns into the relational and Iceberg stores, stored procedures, and Apache Ranger access controls.
Why It Might Be a Fit
To be successful in this role, you must have deep, hands-on ownership of a database layer on Amazon Aurora (PostgreSQL-compatible), DynamoDB, and S3 with Apache Iceberg tables. You should be able to experiment, fail, learn, and repeat quickly, and prioritize accuracy and auditability in a regulated environment.
