Job Description
Role Overview

The Senior Regulatory Specialist will work on municipal and private utility projects where water quality regulations impact or drive projects for HDR's regional or national clients. A thorough understanding of water quality regulations and programs is needed. Technical duties developing and implementing compliance strategies to mitigate regulatory impacts; include independently reviewing NPDES permits, Total Maximum Daily Load Studies, and new or pending regulations from the context of representing regulated clients; reviewing and analyzing water quality and hydrologic data; applying water quality models; and directing others.

What You Will Do

Represent clients in regulatory interactions and as the primary line of communication, report writing and preparation, project management (technical staffing, budget and schedule control) and coordination with small to medium sized project teams. The candidate will also support marketing efforts, be involved with client management for clients in a several state area, and work closely with water quality, marketing, and local operations leaders to achieve established business development goals.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Water Resource Science, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 20+ years within the municipal, industrial, or public agency sector with experience from a regulated entity perspective
  • Strong technical background and experience in the areas listed above
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills
  • Excellent environmental writing and communication skills
