Role OverviewJoin one of the most influential think tanks to contribute to Brookings' success by developing and executing an overall policy agenda and policy strategy as a member of The Hamilton Project team. The Senior Research Assistant will help analyze data, present findings, and assist with the production of Hamilton Project work. The role involves researching policy areas, analyzing data, creating data dashboards, and co-authoring research products. The ideal candidate will have strong quantitative and analytic skills, a passion for public policy, and the ability to work in a small, collaborative environment.
What You Will Do
The Senior Research Assistant will be responsible for analyzing data in Excel, STATA, R, or similar software, presenting findings accurately and accessibly, creating and maintaining charts, figures, and data interactives, and co-authoring Hamilton Project research products. The role also involves working with the Director, Associate Director, and commissioned author(s) on Hamilton Project policy proposal management, monitoring author progress, tracking paper drafts and timelines, and coordinating and consolidating feedback to the author.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics or a related field
- One year of relevant economics or policy research work experience
- Strong quantitative and analytic skills
- Experience with Stata or R, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong knowledge of and passion for public policy, particularly domestic economic policy
- Ability to take initiative to explore promising policy areas and absorb and synthesize large amounts of information and data quickly
- Ability to work in a small, collaborative environment
