Role OverviewThe Georgetown University Center for Global Health Science and Security conducts original research to help decision makers worldwide build sustainable capacities to prevent, detect, respond to public health emergencies and provide policymakers, donors, and researchers with a high-quality evidence base to make decisions that promote health security. The Senior Research Associate will assist with various analytic, research, and logistic tasks to support the research portfolio of the Center for Global Health Science and Security.
What You Will Do
The Senior Research Associate will work closely with Dr. Rebecca Katz, the Director of the Center for Global Health Science and Security, and contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects relating to global health and health security. They will support the operations of the Health Security Operations Center, which includes research of health threats and continued production of the Situation Reports, as well as facilitating the National Center Outbreak Response Experts team.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The Senior Research Associate will work primarily with and report to Dr. Katz, while working collaboratively with other members of the research center, including faculty and research and administrative staff. They will also help shape communications strategies in support of the Center.
Requirements
- Graduate degree in law, public policy, epidemiology, public health, health economics, health policy, or related discipline.
- 5-7 years of professional work experience
- Demonstrated interest in global health and health security
- Ability to prioritize, focus and achieve results in a fast paced and complex environment
- Ability to initiate and complete tasks under tight deadlines and changing priorities, while maintaining attention to results and detail
- Ability to professionally and effectively communicate and work others in order to achieve team goals
- Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team
- Required skills: Communication (oral & verbal), database management, literature review, online research
- Preferred skills: data visualization and languages in addition to English
