Role OverviewThe Senior Resident Engineer - Roadway will lead the oversight of complex infrastructure construction projects that improve mobility, safety, and quality of life. This role will manage inspection teams, coordinate with contractors, and ensure compliance with standards and contract documents.

The Senior Resident Engineer - Roadway will oversee project documentation, schedule monitoring, testing, and stakeholder communication, while managing RFIs, pay estimates, and closeout activities to keep projects on track.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, and a Professional Engineer (PE) license. The candidate should have a minimum of 15 years of relevant construction inspection and management experience, including oversight of roadway, highway, or bridge infrastructure projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (Connecticut preferred)
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant construction inspection and management experience
- Prior experience with CTDOT or other regional transportation agencies strongly preferred
- OSHA 30-hour certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire
- Working knowledge of Project Management Procedures (PMPs) and Project Management Guidelines (PMGs) preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans, specifications, and construction schedules
- Physically able to work in the field, including navigating uneven terrain, climbing ladders, working at heights, and performing duties in a range of outdoor weather conditions
- Availability for occasional night and weekend work
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to project sites
