Role Overview

The Senior Safety Engineer will provide technical safety expertise and leadership associated with innovation and ideation phases as well as the manufacturing and production system by driving a systematic approach to identify, mitigate and manage risk to meet Amazon, regulatory and industry standards.

What You Will Do

Establish and communicate safety requirements and specifications for Innovation, R&D labs, Manufacturing/Production System based on Amazon, regulatory, and harmonized industry standards. Develop and drive safety and compliance roadmap for R&D and manufacturing/production system.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or an equivalent engineering science
  • 5+ years of increasing responsibilities in EHS or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations experience
  • Deep knowledge and experience in safety risk assessment methodology — including but not limited to Machinery Safety (ISO 12100), Functional Safety (ISO 13849), and Electrical Safety (IEC 60204, NFPA 79)
  • Working knowledge of international safety standards including EU Machinery Directive (2006/42/EC), ISO, IEC, ANSI/RIA R15.06, NFPA, UL, and OSHA
  • Experience performing or leading structured safety analyses such as FMEA, FTA, or HAZOP for complex automated or robotic systems
  • Experience integrating safety requirements into product or system design processes, partnering with engineering teams to deliver safety-by-design
  • Experience providing safety engineering support across multiple sites, including coordination of priorities and consistent application of standards
  • Experience with OSHA General Industry standards (29 CFR 1910), hazardous waste management (RCRA), and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Working knowledge of Industrial Hygiene regulations and occupational safety best practices
  • Experience with digital safety management platforms and data-driven EHS programs
