Senior Software Engineer

You will work as a Senior Software Engineer to help build the platform for GovWell, a company that aims to transform how governments serve communities. The role involves building a deeply configurable system that can serve thousands of municipalities with different rules, without collapsing into unmaintainable one-off logic for each one. The team works in person at GovWell HQ in New York City, with a hybrid work culture that combines regular in-person collaboration with flexibility to work remotely.

What You Will Do

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build, test, and ship full-stack features across GovWell's platform, including resident-facing interfaces and scalable backend services. You will take ownership of product areas end-to-end, contributing to technical design discussions and code review that shape how the whole engineering team builds.

Requirements

• 3-5+ years of full-stack development experience building applications for enterprises and/or consumers
• Strong preference for candidates who have worked in high-growth startup environments
• Experience with the latest AI models
• Ability to own a large product area end-to-end and stay accountable for it
• Strong product instincts and ability to ask questions until you understand the customer's problem
