Role Overview

The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and integrate secure, production-quality full-stack applications and engineering capabilities to enable FEMA AI solutions across approved cloud, platform-as-a-service, software-as-a-service, and enterprise technology environments.

What You Will Do

The role will involve translating FEMA program needs into secure, scalable, maintainable, and production-ready technical solutions, developing front-end, middleware, and back-end components, and applying software architecture and engineering best practices.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Favorably adjudicated FEMA public trust suitability determination
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204) or similar
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field
  • Five to ten years of relevant experience
  • Extensive software development, scripting, and technical project-management experience
  • Experience applying Scrum and Agile software-development methodologies
  • In-depth knowledge of relational databases
  • Excellent analytical, systems-analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Hands-on experience developing applications using multiple software frameworks
  • Proficiency with software-engineering tools and software architecture
  • Proficiency in full-stack development and programming approaches, including PERN (PostgreSQL, Express.js, React, and Node.js)
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
  • Expertise managing CI/CD pipelines and Git-based source-code management
  • Experience integrating observability tools into software-engineering efforts
  • Experience directing system installation and upgrades and following the software development lifecycle
  • Ability to determine system specifications and requirements, evaluate information needs and workflows, and recommend performance and process improvements
  • Ability to collect, analyze, summarize, and communicate development and service issues to technical and nontechnical stakeholders
