Role Overview

The Conciliations Unit is seeking experienced attorneys with a background in State and Local Tax or tax audit matters to serve as a Senior Tax Conciliator Attorney. Reporting to the Senior Director, the attorneys handle responsibilities including direct conciliation conferences for tax cases, handling a significant portfolio of cases, and evaluating complex tax audit matters.

What You Will Do

Direct conciliation conferences for tax cases, handle a significant portfolio of cases, evaluate complex tax audit matters, conduct tax mediation conferences, review taxpayer submissions and audit files, research and analyze relevant statutes, rules, and case law, and communicate complex tax matters clearly and effectively.

Requirements

  • Admission to the New York State Bar
  • One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar
  • Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Interne (30086)
  • One year of experience at Assignment Level I or two years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment
  • Two years of experience in Assignment Levels I and/or II or three years of comparable legal experience subsequent to admission to the bar, in the areas of law related to the assignment
