Job Description
The Division of Administration--Bureau of Operations/Health Police Unit is seeking a Sergeant to oversee, direct, and protect DOHMH employees, clients, visitors, and properties throughout NYC areas. The successful candidate will supervise Special Officers, conduct evaluations, and perform uniform and equipment inspections. Additionally, the Sergeant will patrol Health Department facilities, prepare incident reports, and ensure appropriate coverage is assigned to all supervised locations.

Requirements

  • Supervise Special Officers
  • Supervise Supervising Special Officer Level 1
  • Review work performance of Special Officers and conduct evaluations
  • Direct and train subordinates in their duties and responsibilities
  • Inspect Special Officers posts and other work assigned
  • Perform uniform and equipment inspection
  • Patrol Health Department facilities and surrounding areas
  • Prepare, review and submit detailed incident reports
  • Issue summonses to violators of penal law
  • Generate post orders for each assigned supervised location
  • Ensure appropriate coverage is assigned to all supervised locations
  • Submit weekly reports of past week's schedule and findings
  • Visit site locations and ensure daily field reports are adequately submitted
