Role Overview

This position works under general direction and requires thorough knowledge of and skill in sheet metal trade. The role involves serving as a lead worker to lower-level sheet metal workers, other trades helpers, and/or incarcerated persons in fabricating sheet metal and/or structured steel/heavy metal. The position requires repairing roofs, gutters, downspouts, and flashings, fabricating metal products, and inspecting completed work.

What You Will Do

The main day-to-day responsibilities include designing/redesigning, fabricating, modifying, installing, and repairing complex sheet metal and/or structures, steel/heavy metal parts, components, items, and assemblies. The role also involves planning and evaluating jobs, estimating time, laying out patterns, cutting, bending, welding, burning, and fabricating various metal parts.

Requirements

  • 18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. verifiable exp.in sheet metal work under supervision of experienced sheet metal worker
  • formal education in arithmetic that includes fractions & percentages & in reading & writing common English vocabulary
  • 6 mos. exp. as Sheet Metal Worker 1, 52271
  • equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment
