Job Description
The Shelter Specialist will supervise and enforce the daily routine activities of a 15-bed shelter facility and 13-bed transitional housing program for youth aged 18-24. The role involves monitoring youth compliance, providing support, and facilitating recreational groups. The Shelter Specialist will also intake adult applicants, develop emergency shelter services, and communicate with clients, staff, and law enforcement.

Requirements

  • 1-year experience working with youth or desire to work with the homeless youth population
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and cooperatively
  • Thorough knowledge of homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, HIV, and cultural diversity issues
