Role OverviewPerforms ship carpentry work aboard vessels and terminals of the Staten Island Ferry, under the supervision of a Supervisor Ship Carpenter. Performs related work, including repairs and maintenance of ferries, floating equipment, terminals, and related buildings.
What You Will Do
Uses and operates carpentry shop hand and powered machinery, tools, and equipment; repairs and erects partitions, doors, and windows; works from prints and measurements; performs wood working repairs and maintenance of ferries, floating equipment, terminals, and related buildings.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Must pass a drug screening to be appointed, and be subject to random drug and alcohol testing during employment. Must also obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within 30 days of appointment.
Requirements
- Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a ship carpenter performing construction or repair work in a shipyard, or at a ship repair facility, on a ship or other marine vessel, at a dock, or a waterfront facility or performing related marine carpentry.
- Valid Transportation Workers Identification Credential issued by the US Transportation Security Administration within 30 days of appointment.
