Shipping Clerk
Job Summary
The Shipping Clerk interacts with a wide range of internal and external customers throughout the workday and plays a critical role in supporting shipping and logistics operations. This position provides clerical support within the Shipping Department and serves as a backup for logistics and dispatch functions across Carlisle Construction Materials plants. The ideal candidate is professional, detail-oriented, and customer-focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Process shipping instructions and documentation for all daily shipments.
Communicate with customers regarding order status, shipment schedules, and delivery timelines.
Process all truckloads and customer pickups, ensuring deliveries are posted and required documents are created accurately (packing lists, bills of lading, customs invoices).
Assemble, distribute, and properly file shipping documentation.
Prepare and provide shipping documents to drivers.
Ensure all paperwork is complete and available for the Dispatcher and Shipping Department.
Post goods issues for deliveries, create shipments, and run SAP reports to monitor shipment completion.
Coordinate and split trucks and materials as needed.
Communicate with Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) via phone and email, assisting with requests and providing updates on shipment changes (backorders, truck capacity, schedule changes, etc.), including supply rate quotes.
Schedule dispatch and delivery appointments.
Monitor the shipping office window and direct drivers to the appropriate loading or unloading locations.
Process outbound FedEx and UPS shipments.
Run delivery due lists for customer pickups, small parcel shipments, less-than-truckload (LTL), and truckload shipments as time permits.
Distribute work assignments to warehouse personnel as needed.
Serve as backup for the Logistics and Dispatch Clerk when required.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a distribution environment, preferably in an administrative role.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word) required.
Experience with SAP and other inventory or shipping systems strongly preferred.
Equipment Used
Standard office equipment, including computers, copiers, and related devices.
Two-way radio or similar communication devices.
Working Conditions
This role is primarily based in a Shipping/Receiving office within a manufacturing facility.
Some duties require time spent in the warehouse, which is not climate controlled.
Travel Requirement
Some overnight travel may be required during the initial training period.
Additional travel beyond training is expected to be minimal to none.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements
Carlisle Construction Materials requires employees to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for their job tasks and the areas of the facility in which they are working.
Safety shoes and safety glasses are required at a minimum at all times within the plant and surrounding areas, unless otherwise defined by management.
Carlisle Construction Materials offers reimbursement for approved safety shoes and prescription safety glasses that meet required specifications.
Additional PPE may be required when deemed necessary by management based on specific job tasks or working conditions.
