Role OverviewThe Software Development Manager (SDM III) will lead and grow a team of 14 engineers building and operating high-availability control-plane services. The team will set the technical direction for scaling, placement, heat management, and disruption mitigation across the BigMac fleet. The ideal candidate is passionate about finding the right solution for each challenge, has experience delivering high-quality technical products or services amid shifting priorities, and knows how to prioritize well, communicate clearly, and drive focus and excellence within a team.
What You Will Do
The day-to-day responsibilities include growing engineers, shaping where the technology goes next, meeting one-on-one with team members, and clearing roadblocks to make steady progress on rebuilding core parts of the platform for the next wave of scale.

Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
