Job Description
Role Overview

As a Software Development Specialist 2, you will design and perform systems analysis, recommend application solutions, and assist with documentation. You will develop software applications and perform analysis and design. You will also read, write, extract, and report from compounded files. This role is critical to the continued operations of the Ohio Department of Public Safety during a public safety emergency.

What You Will Do

Your main day-to-day responsibilities will include developing software applications, performing post-production support for business applications, and researching to aid in troubleshooting software production errors. You will also perform routine maintenance and enhancements.

Requirements

  • 48 months of combined work experience in designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, recommending application solutions, and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation, and assisting with documentation
  • 12 months of work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description and job posting
  • completion of an associate core program in computer science or information systems
  • 30 months of combined work experience in designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, recommending application solutions, and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation, and assisting with documentation
  • 12 months of work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description and job posting
  • completion of an undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems
  • 24 months of combined work experience in designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, recommending application solutions, and/or testing and correcting programs as it relates to testing and implementation, and assisting with documentation
  • 12 months of work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description and job posting
