Role OverviewThe Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is seeking a Software Development Specialist 2 to join the Office of Information Technology Services at our Central Office in downtown Columbus, Ohio. The primary goal is to protect the environment and public health by ensuring compliance with federal and state environmental laws. The successful candidate will develop software applications and perform analysis and design while working with business personnel to identify and document system software requirements.
What You Will Do
The main day-to-day responsibilities and outcomes include developing software applications, performing analysis and design, identifying problems and developing potential solutions, conducting testing and supporting user acceptance testing, performing software implementation tasks, and developing, implementing, and monitoring IT quality assurance standards.

The ideal candidate will have 48 months of combined work experience in designing and performing systems analysis, developing and/or modifying programs for computer applications, recommending application solutions, and testing and correcting programs. Alternatively, the candidate may have completed an associate core program in computer science or information systems and have 30 months of combined work experience, or completed an undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems and have 24 months of combined work experience.
