Role OverviewA Sonographer is a diagnostic medical professional who provides diagnostic medical ultrasound exams. They are responsible for operating sonographic equipment, maintaining patient workflow, and ensuring quality assessment. The Sonographer must maintain a high standard of medical ethics and be self-motivated to increase their understanding and knowledge of the field.
What You Will Do
Perform ultrasound examinations, validate patient orders, prepare exam rooms, and communicate with patients. Follow hospital policies and procedures, and maintain patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements
- Completion of an accredited program in a school of Sonography
- Previous Sonography experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of sterile technique and surgical procedures (preferred)
- Basic computer knowledge
- Knowledge of various types of ultrasound equipment
- Basic knowledge of oxygen tanks, suction machines, and IVAC pumps (preferred)
- Knowledge of computer stored images
- SPI (Sonography Principles & Instrumentation Examination) certification
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification in a specialty
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
