Job Description
Under the general direction of the school principal, and under the immediate supervision of a Special Education teacher, assists in the instruction of disabled students with various disabilities. Lifts and positions non-ambulatory students, provides one-on-one tutoring and personal hygiene services, and assists with daily living skills. Assists teachers in maintaining written records and accompanies students on field trips.

Requirements

  • Certification as a TASN paraprofessional license from the Illinois State Board of Education
  • Good knowledge of the characteristics of students with various disabilities, English grammar and spelling, and basic mathematics
  • Ability to work with and for students with various disabilities, ages birth to twenty-one
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and direction
