Job Description
The Special Education Classroom Assistant assists in the instruction of disabled students and performs related duties as required. The position requires a valid TASN (NCLB) paraprofessional license from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).

Requirements

  • Assist Special Education teachers in elementary and high schools
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring services for students
  • Provide personal hygiene services for students with severe disabilities
  • Assist students with orthopedic impairments
  • Accompany students to swimming pools and medical clinics
  • Assist in feeding students unable to do so themselves
  • Correct homework assignments and examination materials
  • Maintain written records of students' behavior
  • Attend and participate in workshops and in-service training
