Job Description
The City of New York’s Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) is seeking Attorneys to serve as Special Education Hearing Officers in cases involving federal IDEA and Section 504 regulations. This role involves conducting hearings, managing evidence, and delivering legal decisions. The agency supports and provides education to students with disabilities, offering guidance and support through mediation and restoration justice. OATH also houses the Center for Creative Conflict Resolution and provides administrative training for hearing officers.

Requirements

  • Admission to the New York State Bar
  • Four years of responsible and relevant legal experience
  • Eighteen months of experience in an administrative or managerial capacity
  • Active status in the New York State Bar and commitment to maintaining good standing
