Role OverviewThe Special Education Teacher for the Elementary Functional Life Skills (FLS) program at Talbot Community School will provide case management and specially designed instruction to students with significant intellectual disabilities. The teacher will lead a team of program staff, create positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, and have experience with special education case management responsibilities.
What You Will Do
The main day-to-day responsibilities and outcomes of this role include serving as the special education case manager for students, maintaining accurate records, creating a classroom environment that promotes student involvement, and providing instructional programming to meet the needs of all students.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in an applicable field of special education from an accredited college or university
- Maine State Teaching Certification with one of the following endorsements: Endorsement 286 (K-12) or Endorsement 282 (K-8)
- Certified in CPI and/or SafetyCare or able to be certified
- Experience working with behavioral disabilities and experience with standards-based experiential and/or expeditionary learning preferred
- Experience with Acuity, Google suite, preferred
