Role Overview

The Valley Day School is looking for a Special Education Teacher to design and implement an Individualized Education Program (IEP) for each student assigned to the classroom. The teacher will work collaboratively with the Clinical and Behavioral teams to promote student academic, social, and emotional development. The teacher will be responsible for assessing the functioning level of each student and developing goals and objectives.

What You Will Do

The main day-to-day responsibilities of this role include designing and implementing IEPs, assessing student functioning levels, developing goals and objectives, and communicating with students' guardians/caretakers on a weekly basis. The teacher will also be responsible for completing required paperwork, attending team meetings and faculty meetings, and participating in training sessions.

Requirements

  • Possession of a current Pennsylvania Professional Certificate in Special Education
  • Demonstrated ability in written and oral communication
  • Experience in developing and implementing Special Education programs and classroom management for students with developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of and experience with the Danielson Framework
  • Current CPR/First Aid certification
  • An appreciation and understanding of instructional technology
