Role OverviewThe ASCEND Program at Mill Road School is seeking a certified Special Education Teacher to join our team. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate communication, management, planning, professional responsibilities, and instruction skills. The program seeks to provide a challenging, diverse learning environment that meets the individual and diverse needs of each student with special needs.
What You Will Do
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following skills: communication, management, planning, professional responsibilities, and instruction. They will assist with the orderly scheduling and implementation of a transdisciplinary program, develop and implement behavior management strategies, and participate in PPTs, conferences, meetings, and other activities.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong knowledge in Autism Spectrum Disorders, the facilitation of reading, writing, and mathematics, and knowledge of standards-based instruction and reporting. They will establish and maintain an environment conducive to learning with groups and individuals, and participate in the on-going evaluation of students.
Requirements
- Connecticut teacher certification in special education required
- Strong knowledge in Autism Spectrum Disorders
- Demonstrates knowledge and application of the facilitation of reading, writing, and mathematics
- Demonstrates knowledge of standards based instruction and reporting
- Establishes and maintains an environment conducive to learning with groups and individuals
