Role Overview

The Special Officer will perform work relating to physical security, safety, loss prevention, and maintenance of order. Duties will include responding to emergency incidents, maintaining heightened security level at key locations, and conducting interior and exterior patrols of DOHMH facilities.

What You Will Do

The Special Officer will respond to emergency incidents, maintain heightened security level at key locations, conduct interior and exterior patrols of DOHMH facilities, complete complaint and incident reports, and perform various physical activities such as working outdoors in all kinds of weather.

Requirements

  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a state's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization
  • Qualification to serve as a Peace Officer
  • Satisfy the training requirements established by the State of New York for Peace Officers and obtain certification
  • Maintain certification for the duration of employment
