Role OverviewWe are seeking a Specialty Mechanical Engineer to join our team supporting the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex. The position is full-time and will be based out of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The engineer will create design and procurement documents for specialty and first-of-a-kind equipment, collaborate with designers, and develop procurement documents.
What You Will Do
The engineer will perform calculations and analysis associated with machine design, including finite element analysis, structural and seismic analysis, ergonomic studies, kinematic calculations, and heat transfer calculations. They will also lead multi-discipline teams and produce build-to-print equipment fabrication packages.
Why It Might Be a Fit
The ideal candidate will have advanced experience in machine design, thorough knowledge of relevant industry codes and standards, and experience writing detailed procurement documents. They will also have experience leading multi-discipline teams and working with 3D CAD modeling software.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school
- 10+ years of experience with design/specification of custom mechanical equipment
- Active or very recently active DOE 'Q' Clearance or DoD 'Top Secret' Clearance
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government issued clearance
