Role OverviewAssist a teacher in a special education setting, preparing materials, maintaining a classroom, and supporting students with physical and emotional needs. Work with students to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises. Participate in staff development and maintain confidentiality.
What You Will Do
Prepare instructional materials, maintain a neat and orderly classroom, assist with inventory and equipment care, and provide orientation to substitutes. Assist students with physical disabilities, manage behavior, and supervise students throughout the school day.

Requirements
- Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent
- Paraprofessional certificate from State Board of Certification
- Successful completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants or six months of knowledge and skills acquired through work experience
- Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics
- Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups
- Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions
- Demonstrated effective communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with children with disabilities
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
