Role Overview

The SPED Inclusion Teacher Assistant will assist a teacher in preparing instructional materials, maintaining a neat and orderly classroom, and providing support to students with physical disabilities. The role requires regular attendance at the worksite and performing all duties at the worksite.

What You Will Do

The SPED Inclusion Teacher Assistant will help with inventory, care and maintenance of equipment, assist students with physical disabilities, and assist with classroom curriculum. They will also help manage behavior of students, supervise students throughout the school day, and keep the teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.

Requirements

  • Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Paraprofessional certificate
  • Successful completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants or six months of knowledge and skills acquired through work experience
  • Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics
  • Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups
  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills
