Role OverviewAssist a teacher in a self-contained special education classroom for grades K-5. Responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, maintaining a neat and orderly classroom, and providing support to students with physical disabilities. What You Will Do
Help the teacher with tasks such as preparing instructional materials, maintaining the classroom, and assisting students with physical disabilities. You will also work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.

Requirements
- Accredited Senior High School Diploma or equivalent
- Paraprofessional certificate from State Board of Certification
- Successful completion of a specific training program for teacher assistants or six months of knowledge and skills acquired through work experience
- Demonstrated general knowledge of child growth/development and behavior characteristics
- Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse ethnic groups
- Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated initiative and a willingness to follow verbal and written instructions
- Demonstrated effective communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work with children with disabilities
