Role OverviewThe Speech/Language Pathologist organizes and conducts speech/language programs for the facility to facilitate rehabilitation. He/she directs resident participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance. Also, the Pathologist facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for communication and swallowing, to diminish or correct pathology. He/she directs activities to promote and maintain health.
What You Will Do
Evaluates residents, develops treatment goals and methods, implements the speech therapy treatment plan, and completes related documentation and record keeping. Coordinates the acquisition of adaptive communication devices and instructs residents in their use. Selects activities suited to individual residents' needs and capabilities.
Why It Might Be a Fit
Requires a graduate degree in Speech Language Pathology, licensure, and a Certificate of Clinical Competency. Must have good organizational and time management skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
Requirements
- Graduate of accredited Master's Level Speech Language curriculum certified by the American Speech/Language/Hearing Association.
- Licensed and/or eligible for licensure as required in the state.
- Eligible for a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech/Language/Hearing Association.
