Role OverviewThe Stabilization Counselor is an exempt position responsible for providing clinical services to parents and caregivers who care for dependent children under the jurisdiction of the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County, Florida. This professional position will assist in strengthening and stabilizing placements for children by providing intensive, specialized, therapeutic services to keep children in their current placement when safe and possible.
What You Will Do
Provide direct counseling to parents, caregivers, and children, to help meet the family's needs and stabilize the placement. Provide therapeutic crisis intervention services, when needed, to assist in stabilizing families and ensuring safety for the children in care.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a human services-related field with a minimum of four (4) years post–bachelor's experience in human services
- Master's degree in a human services-related field with one year of experience in human services preferred
- A specialized certification, such as a Certified Addictions Professional (CAP), may substitute for one (1) year of the required experience
- Bilingual English and Spanish, preferred
- Thorough knowledge of human development, counseling theories, and practices
- Ability to demonstrate strong crisis intervention skills and remain neutral
- Strong oral and written communication skills; must be computer literate
- Conducts self in a professional manner with colleagues, peers, and clients
- Ability to work in the family's home on a weekly basis
- Ability to work under stressful situations
- Potential exposure to clients who may be verbally and/or physically aggressive
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases
- Ability to work overtime as a salaried professional when required
- As a requirement of this position, you must use your personal car to transport and have active automobile insurance
- Must have a valid driver's license with auto insurance coverage
