Role Overview

The Staff AI/ML Engineer (LLMs) will lead the development of Agentic AI capabilities and other LLM based capabilities for a multitude of mission management applications. This role involves leading a multidisciplinary team to implement machine learning algorithms to solve complex domain-specific problems and operational workflows. The engineer will adapt and fine-tune foundation models for specialized use cases, design and implement retrieval-augmented generation systems, and deploy scalable AI solutions across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include leading and mentoring a team to implement machine learning algorithms, applying LLMs to complex domain-specific problems, adapting and fine-tuning foundation models, designing and implementing retrieval-augmented generation systems, building production-grade LLM applications, and deploying scalable AI solutions.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience in software development or as a data scientist, with a strong background in machine learning, computer science, or mathematics. The candidate should have experience leading an interdisciplinary team and working with a program manager to define project scope and schedule. Desired qualifications include a Master's or Ph.D. in machine learning, computer science, or mathematics, and experience with large language models, transformer-based architectures, and natural language processing algorithms.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance
  • B.S. in machine learning, computer science, mathematics, or related fields
  • 8+ years of experience in software development or as a data scientist
  • Experience with Python and data science/machine learning libraries
  • Experience contributing on a team using version control
  • Experience with Linux
  • Experience with CUDA and Python libraries
  • Familiarity with using AWS cloud computing resources
  • Experience with additional languages (Java, C++, Rust, Go, and/or C#)
