Staff Backend Software Engineer

As a Staff Backend Software Engineer at LVT, you will serve as a primary technical authority driving the design, performance, and scaling of our core backend architecture. You will architect resilient, high-velocity services that power our next-generation intelligent site technology.

Provide strategic technical leadership, ship high-impact backend architecture, elevate engineering standards, optimize development lifecycles, drive cross-functional alignment, identify root causes and resolve complex edge cases, and act as a go-to thought leader and mentor.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience centered on complex backend systems, cloud services, and API development
• 3+ years of hands-on production experience architecting, building, and maintaining enterprise Node.js and TypeScript services
• Demonstrated expertise in OpenAPI/REST API design and hands-on experience building or optimizing GraphQL queries and mutations
• Familiarity with modern framework ecosystems (e.g., NestJS) and containerized deployment workflows utilizing Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
• Proficiency with relational databases (SQL experience preferred) and modern database query optimization
• Proven experience guiding cross-functional technical teams, establishing engineering culture, and driving process improvements within Agile environments
• Obsessive commitment to system reliability, operational quality, thorough testing, and robust root-cause problem solving
• Highly effective communication skills with the versatility to thrive in a fast-paced environment and pivot rapidly between priorities
