START Family Peer Supporter

We are seeking a certified peer supporter or an individual who is in long-term recovery from a substance use disorder or substance use with mental health, who is eligible to work toward becoming a certified peer supporter. Experience working with resources in Jackson County preferred. We are a community-minded, forward-thinking behavioral health organization helping people along the road to health and well-being.

What You Will Do

Participate as an active member of the Ohio START team, work jointly with the Ohio START case worker and behavioral health provider to ensure seamless and efficient delivery of intensive wrap-around services to the START families on the caseload, and assist with the safety of the child(ren).

We are looking for an individual with lived experience with child welfare services as a parent or child, minimum 3 years quality recovery from Substance Use Disorder, familiarity of community health & human service systems, and ability to effectively communicate through verbal/written expression.

Requirements

• Have earned a minimum education level of GED.
• Lived experience with child welfare servicers as a parent or child.
• Minimum 3 years quality recovery from Substance Use Disorder.
• Familiarity of community health & human service systems.
• Able to effectively communicate through verbal/written expression.
• Can effectively operate in an Internet-based, electronic health record (EHR) and other data environments.
• Demonstrate long term recovery (at least 2 years is required, three years is preferred) from a SUD.
• Demonstrate no ongoing criminal activity.
• Have lived experience with the child welfare system either as a parent or child, with the case closed at least one year or if do not have direct CPS experience, be able to describe how your substance use affected your children and family.
• Maintain a current driver’s license.
