Role OverviewThe STLS Advocate role aligns with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act and operates under the supervision of the school principal. The primary duty is to serve as a liaison between the school and the community, performing related tasks as necessary.
What You Will Do
Responsibilities include identification and enrollment, transportation facilitation, compliance and documentation, academic support, community engagement, collaboration and dispute resolution, communication and evaluation, legislation and policy adherence, student transitions and post-secondary assistance, and record management.

Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited educational institution with a Bachelor's degree required
- Engaging collaboratively with communities and families who are experiencing vulnerability
- In-depth knowledge of community organizations and social service agencies
- Solid understanding of CPS and Federal regulations
- Proven ability to cultivate strong working relationships with both students and caregivers
- Demonstrated empathy for the struggles and needs of students experiencing housing instability
- Proficiency in collaborating with diverse community organizations and members
- Skill in preparing routine written reports to effectively communicate information
- Ability to recognize and respond to community and parents' concerns and educational interests
- Strong human relations skills, fostering positive interactions
- Excellent oral communication skills for effective engagement
- Competence in written communication, ensuring clear and concise expression of ideas
