Street Maintenance Worker I

The City of Lenexa is hiring a full-time Street Maintenance Worker to join the Municipal Services (Public Works) team. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, be enthusiastic, and take pride in their accomplishments. The role involves maintaining street surfaces, road bases, curbs, and gutters, as well as snow and ice control. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn and grow through the maintenance worker career track program.

What You Will Do

The Street Maintenance Worker is responsible for asphalt maintenance and paving, concrete maintenance, snow and ice removal, and performing manual labor. The role involves operating various equipment, including trucks, snow removal equipment, and hand and power tools. The candidate will also be responsible for responding to emergencies and performing walk-around inspections on equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• Two years of experience in a construction-related field
• Valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) with air brake and tanker endorsements and Work Zone Safety Certification
• Ability to stand and walk, lift and carry objects weighing up to approximately 60 lbs., and work in extreme weather conditions
