Role Overview

The Stress Engineer IV will develop engineering stress and substantiation data within budget in accordance with FAA, customer, and corporate standards of quality. This role requires advanced/expert knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR's), Airworthiness Directives (AD's), Alternate Means of Compliance (AMOC), and related regulatory requirements and processes. The Stress Engineer IV will direct and mentor junior engineers with understanding regulations and directives.

What You Will Do

The Stress Engineer IV will independently analyze structural engineering data produced by other engineering groups to ensure it meets the structural requirements for FAA certification. They will also generate stress analysis notes, develop finite element models, create test procedures, and provide technical support to Production during the manufacturing and installation phases of developed designs.

Why It Might Be a Fit

The Stress Engineer IV will have an excellent relationship with the Structures DER's and ODA UM's to assure that structures and interior related FAR's are addressed. They will also demonstrate subject matter expertise on at least one area critical to substantiation and support other Engineering groups as workload requirements dictate.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering or related scientific field, or equivalent combination of experience and coursework
  • Ten (10) years industry experience in the engineering field, preferably dealing in the design of modifications to transport category aircraft
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience utilizing SolidWorks (or comparable CAD program) with demonstrable proficiency
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations, certification processes, and related requirements
  • Comprehensive knowledge of standard aircraft components, materials, fabrication practices, aviation hardware, and proper application in design
  • Knowledge of engineering principles used in stress analysis, 3D-computer modeling, and other analytical substantiation techniques
  • Knowledge of personal computer systems with Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of PC-based or workstation-based analysis software systems
  • Extensive knowledge of the use and application of aircraft technical data such as engineering drawings, SRM's, MM's, SB's, IPC's, WD's, etc.
  • Good oral, written, and organizational skills, and ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
