Role Overview

As a Structural Engineer at HDR, you will help design critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and shapes the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive. You will lead work independently on a wide variety of projects across numerous market sectors, collaborating with architects and other engineering discipline leads to develop designs and drive projects forward.

What You Will Do

Your responsibilities will include collaborating with architects and other engineering discipline leads, coordinating the work of the structural design team, establishing meetings and participating in reviews with various governing agencies, conducting design development and contract document work sessions, and performing site visits and leading construction administration efforts.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering; Structural emphasis
  • 5-8 years of progressive structural engineering experience on projects of similar scale and complexity to HDR's
  • Strong communication skills and emerging leadership aptitude with an entrepreneurial spirit
  • Structural Engineer (SE) License or qualification via NCEES exam to obtain SE in Illinois
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered
  • Previous structural engineer experience
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
