Role Overview

HDR's Building Engineering Services (BES) group of MN/WI is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our growing team in Madison or Milwaukee, Wisconsin. This is a mid-career opportunity to lead work independently on a wide variety of projects across numerous market sectors including healthcare, civic, tech, commercial, water, and light industrial projects, many of which are in high-seismic areas. You will be mentored by experienced structural engineers and have the opportunity to mentor earlier-career engineers.

What You Will Do

Collaborate with architects and other engineering discipline leads to develop designs and drive projects forward, working independently and/or leading small project teams and mentoring EITs. Independently coordinate the work of the structural design team through design development and contract document phases, establish meetings with governing agencies for code compliance, and perform site visits and lead construction administration efforts. Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures and materials, complete necessary calculations, and review structural documents for conflicts and best practices.

Why It Might Be a Fit

This role requires a professional engineering license (PE or P.Eng) and previous structural engineering experience. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in Structural Engineering, 5-8 years of progressive experience, and an SE license. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Previous structural engineer experience
  • Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, RISA, Staad, SAP, Tedds, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
