Role OverviewThe Student Career Advisor is responsible for providing in-school transition services to students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). This position will serve Valparaiso High School and SELF School. The advisor will provide one-on-one classroom instruction and worksite services, including career explorations, job readiness, and post-secondary education opportunities.
What You Will Do
The main responsibilities of this role include developing a caseload of students, creating and maintaining a consistent schedule, assisting the Transition Team, and advocating for students' individual needs. The advisor will also maintain productive relationships with teachers, local employers, students, and parents.
Why It Might Be a Fit
This role requires excellent interpersonal communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently. The ideal candidate will have experience working with developmentally disabled populations and a high school diploma. 1-3 years of experience in a related field is preferred.
